Enkou Shoujo: Rikujoubu Yukki no Baai The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Track and field was Yuki Kawaragi's whole identity — until an injury pulled that away from her. Adrift and looking for something familiar, she reconnects with her old friend Mako, only to find out Mako has been doing compensated dating to cover her bills. Instead of walking away, Yuki decides to stick close and watch out for her, which is where things start getting complicated in ways she didn't anticipate. This single-episode OVA from Office No. 8 is adapted from a visual novel by Frill, and it leans into that source material's strength: character interiority. The story is less interested in shock value and more focused on how two people in difficult situations justify the choices they make. Yuki isn't reckless or naive — she genuinely thinks she can protect someone she cares about — and watching that logic unravel is where the emotional weight comes from. Don't go in expecting something lighthearted. The tone is quiet and a little bleak, sitting closer to Kite in its willingness to sit with uncomfortable situations rather than flinch away from them. If Shoujo Sect: Innocent Lovers appealed to you because of its grounded female friendships under pressure, there's overlap here in how the relationship between the two leads is handled. It's a short watch, but it's the kind of story that's more interested in emotional erosion than easy resolution.
