Synopsis
Doraemon, originating from Japan, is based on a manga by Fujiko F. Fujio, first published in 1969. The anime series, featuring a robotic cat named Doraemon and his human friend Nobita, has become a cultural icon, known for its blend of science fiction, comedy, and life lessons. The franchise includes numerous TV episodes and movies, with "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021" being the 41st feature film. This installment is a remake of the 1985 film "Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars," directed by Shin Yamaguchi, replacing Kazuaki Imai from the previous film. The plot begins during Nobita's summer vacation, where he and friends use a diorama to film "The Great War of the Worlds." Feeling left out, Nobita finds a real rocket containing Papi, a palm-sized alien president from Planet Pirika, escaping rebels. Doraemon and Nobita repair Papi's rocket, and with gadgets like "Small Light," they shrink to play with Papi, deepening their bond. Papi sees Shizuka as his sister Piina, left behind on Pirika. The narrative escalates when a whale-shaped battleship attacks, revealing Papi's status and the threat from General Gilmore and PCIA chief Dracoluru. The group hides Papi, but Shizuka is captured, leading to a rescue mission using the "Astrotank" and Papi's dog Locoroco. They travel to Pirika, meeting Genbu of the Freedom Alliance, and plan to stop Gilmore's coronation. The climax involves infiltrating the PCIA base, battling electromagnetic pulse missiles, and growing gigantic as "Small Light" wears off, ultimately rescuing Papi and inspiring a revolution, ending the dictatorship.
