Doko? Doko?
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Splashed across the screen comes "Where? Where?" — and then the whole thing just takes off into this colorful, accordion-fueled fever dream of a hide-and-seek game. Doko? Doko? is a standalone animated music video from NHK's long-running Minna no Uta program, set to a track by CHARAN-PO-RANTAN, a sister duo known for their weird, wonderful circus-pop sound. The entire thing is basically a visual treasure hunt through a surreal storybook world, with the animation matching every beat of their eccentric arrangement — squeezebox melodies, handclaps, the works. There's no traditional plot here, just pure vibes. A frantic, playful search for something (or someone) hidden, captured in animation that feels like a children's picture book got possessed by carnival energy. It's short, it's strange, and it sticks in your head way longer than you'd expect from something aimed at kids. If you've ever gotten weirdly attached to Oshiri Kajiri Mushi or found yourself rewatching Tsuki no Waltz at 2 AM, this is that same corner of Japanese media where musicians and animators just get to be experimental and odd without anyone asking why. Fans of Pui Pui Molcar's "tiny and charming but surprisingly creative" energy will probably dig this too. It's one episode, barely a few minutes — just let it wash over you.
