A galactic law enforcement agency forcibly partners two junior agents who genuinely cannot stand each other. That's the setup, and it works better than it has any right to. Kei is a hot-headed redhead on her fourth probation, yes, fourth, while Yuri is more romance-obsessed than mission-focused. Their mutual dislike is so bad that Kei actually quits the 3WA entirely before the story even gets moving. Then a crisis called 'Siren' pulls her back in, and suddenly these two have to figure out how to function as a team whether they like it or not. The universe they're operating in just survived a massive galactic economic collapse, so everything feels a little unstable and lived-in, which gives the action sequences some actual weight. This is a 6-episode OVA from Sunrise, so it moves fast and never overstays its welcome. The character designs were completely refreshed from the original Dirty Pair series, so it's a clean entry point even if you've never seen the classic. If you liked the banter and chemistry in Cowboy Bebop or the female-duo dynamic in You're Under Arrest, this scratches a similar itch. It's comedic and action-driven without being brainless, the friction between Kei and Yuri carries most of the entertainment, and watching them slowly stop being each other's worst enemy is genuinely satisfying.
