Dark Blue
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When Yukito's sister Kotomi turns up dead during a family trip, the killer is probably still right there with them. That's the setup for Dark Blue, a 2-episode OVA from PoRO based on a visual novel, and it commits hard to that tension. Yukito, his remaining sisters, and his childhood friend Otoha are stuck together in a quiet countryside setting with no easy answers and a lot of unease. The close-knit character dynamics make that suspicion cut deeper than it would with strangers — these are people who care about each other, which makes the distrust hurt more. The animation leans into the mood: muted tones, slow pacing, atmosphere over action. It's not trying to be a thriller with a lot of chase scenes. It sits with the dread. If you've seen Perfect Blue and appreciated how psychological tension can carry a story without needing constant plot explosions, this hits a similar nerve on a smaller scale. Fans of Blue Literature's quieter, character-focused darkness might also find something here. Fair warning upfront — this is a hentai title, so it carries adult content alongside the mystery framing. But if you're okay with that and you're looking for something with actual narrative weight rather than just genre mechanics going through the motions, Dark Blue earns a look.
