After the explosive introduction, this episode settles into the show's bizarre formula while expanding the world around Kouichi and the ongoing conflict. The comedy remains completely unhinged, but the episode does a better job showing why the characters are fun to watch beyond the shock factor. The penguin side continues stealing scenes, and the mecha action is just as absurd as expected. By this point, it's clear the series isn't trying to be taken seriously, and that's exactly why it works.
