"Dagashi Kashi" centers on Shikada Kokonotsu, a young man living in a rural town and aspiring to be a manga author. His father owns a traditional sweets shop, a "dagashiya," and hopes Kokonotsu will inherit it. However, Kokonotsu has other plans. The story takes a turn when the eccentric Shidare Hotaru, a girl from a renowned sweets company, arrives. She seeks to recruit Kokonotsu's father, who is surprisingly well-known in the industry. The father agrees to join the company, but only if Hotaru can convince Kokonotsu to take over the family dagashiya. This sets the stage for a summer filled with sweet treats, comedic interactions, and the clash between dreams and family obligations in a charming, nostalgic setting.
