countzeroor★★★★☆AnimeThis is the rare case of an anthology H-anime, with a bunch of shorts that stick the landing very well, with a lot of good options. (I just wish the scenes with guys getting topped weren't eased and were actually shown)
Dropping you into a completely different situation with every installment is the whole structure of Yuuwaku Countdown, a 1995 OVA anthology from AIC based on manga by adult artist Hiroyuki Utatane, and all six unconnected stories do exactly that. No ongoing plot to track, no recurring cast to remember. Just six standalone episodes, each with its own tone, setting, and set of characters doing things that range from comedic to genuinely unsettling. The first episode, Alimony Hunter, kicks things off with Jun stumbling into a romantic situation where identities are not quite what they appear. and the series keeps that energy of subverted expectations going from there. Some episodes lean into fantasy, others into horror, and there's even mecha territory in the mix, which is not a combination you see often in this genre. If you've watched Cool Devices or La Blue Girl and appreciated how anthology formatting lets adult anime get weird without committing to a full narrative arc, this scratches a similar itch. It has that same mid-90s aesthetic and willingness to just go somewhere unexpected from one episode to the next. The tone shifts are real. don't expect consistency. One story might be dark and tense while the next plays everything for laughs. If Bible Black's blend of eerie atmosphere and explicit content worked for you, a couple of these episodes will feel familiar. It's niche, it's uneven, and it's definitely not for everyone, but as anthology OVAs from this era go, it covers unusual ground.
Yuki Watanabe: Akemi's modern Japanese and homeroom teacher in "Sweetest Lips".
Iwatsubo Rie
Akemi Takase: A high school student involved in a complex relationship with her teacher and mother.
Koorogi Satomi
This season covers Chapters 1-3 of the manga. Continue reading from Chapter 4.

kawauso_knight_43★★★☆☆EP 3This feels like a fever dream and the mecha stuff earlier was weird but the teacher plot in this one is just uncomfortable and the ending is so abrupt
maryrie★★★★☆EP 3That classroom scene went from zero to sixty so fast and the way the supernatural stuff started creeping in while they were in the school was actually pretty unsettling
sora★★★★☆EP 3Seeing the samurai policewoman and then this school teacher story is such a jarring jump and the plot makes no sense but the character designs are top tier
pamela★★★★☆EP 3I am obsessed with how detailed Utatane draws every single frame and the way the teacher looked in that one close up shot was incredible and those character movements are so fluid for an old OVA
chibiusa★★★★☆EP 3The art style is so 90s and gritty and Jun acting as a teacher is a weird choice and the supernatural elements in the school felt way too out of place
minako_aino_374★★★★☆EP 3My brain was not ready for the shift from giant statues to a school setting, but seeing Chizuru finally confront everyone in the back room was a total shock
suzaku_kururugi_172★★★★☆EP 3I think the most interesting part was seeing Jun take on a teacher persona because her character design in those glasses is just classic Hiroyuki Utatane art. Even though the plot is a complete mess of genres and weirdness the voice acting from Kappei Yamaguchi really kept me focused on Kunihiko even when the visuals got a bit too extreme.
loveablepanda101★★★★☆EP 3The soundtrack during the Chizuru scenes really sets a creepy mood and it matches that specific mid nineties adult anime vibe perfectly
vincent_valentine★★★★☆EP 3Yuki Watanabe getting stuck in that back room drama was the most interesting part of the whole sequence and she looked terrified
kittan_bachika_188★★★☆☆EP 3I feel like the aesthetic of these old ovas is way better than modern stuff and Jun looked great in her glasses
flower_flute_499★★★☆☆EP 3It is so weird seeing a samurai statue fight in one episode and then this school drama in the next and the tonal shift gave me whiplash
tingle★★★☆☆EP 3Kunihiko having the same voice as Inuyasha makes every single adult scene feel incredibly cursed and I just want to scrub my ears
naofumi_naysayer_149★★☆☆☆EP 3Utatane art is basically carrying this entire episode because the actual story about the teacher alias is pretty thin and confusing
miko_iino_163★★★☆☆EP 3The way Chizuru and Yuki interact feels so much more intense than the actual plot and I really dug the lighting in those scenes
