Chounouryoku Shoujo Barabanba
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When an alien spacecraft lands directly in front of a motorcycle rider caught in a storm, out step a talking plush creature and a robot named Barabanba — who promptly transforms into a blonde woman. That's the setup for one of the earliest adult OVAs ever made, and it leans hard into that sci-fi weirdness while doing what Go Nagai does best: mixing pulpy genre energy with unapologetically adult content. Based on Go Nagai's 1984 manga, this single-episode OVA is a genuine piece of anime history. This came out in 1985, when the OVA format itself was barely a thing, so if you care about where adult anime actually started, this is close to ground zero. It predates Cream Lemon and sits firmly in the era before Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend pushed the genre into darker territory, giving it a comparatively lighter, almost campy science fiction flavor. The vibe is less grim than La Blue Girl and more curious — it feels like a pulp sci-fi comic that wandered into adult territory rather than the other way around. The alien-meets-human setup gives it a fantasy adventure texture that makes it feel distinct from later entries in the genre. This is mainly for people interested in anime history or Go Nagai completionists. As a one-episode curiosity from 1985, it's short, strange, and genuinely interesting as a cultural artifact.
