Synopsis

Bound in their endless orbit, Pluto and Charon always face one another, but the distance between them never changes. That's the metaphor at the heart of this music video by Rokudenashi, and it hits harder than you'd expect from something under five minutes long. Charon follows a protagonist caught in the gravity of a past love — someone who's always there in memory, always close in thought, but permanently out of reach. The visuals lean into that celestial imagery, using the cold vastness of space to mirror the emotional distance between two people who were once connected. Vocalist Ninjin delivers the kind of quiet, aching performance that sits in your chest for a while after it's over. The lyrics are poetic without being vague, grounding the cosmic metaphor in something painfully human. The whole thing is melancholic and introspective, the kind of piece you watch alone at night and then just stare at the ceiling for a bit. If you liked the emotional gut-punch of Shelter or the bittersweet longing in 5 Centimeters per Second, this lives in that same space. It also carries a similar energy to Kimi no Na wa's theme of connection across impossible distance, just distilled into a single song. It's one episode, one song, and it doesn't waste a second. Sometimes the shortest things leave the longest mark.
