📖 SYNOPSIS
In a Tang Dynasty China where martial artists walk around with supernatural abilities baked into their bones, the world is anything but ordinary. These gifted fighters, called Qiwu people, have split into two camps: the Duwu Division, who work for the imperial court to keep the peace, and the Zhenwu Society, who'd rather watch the world burn and rule whatever's left. Right in the middle of this mess is Yun Xinxiao, a guy everyone writes off as a nobody. He gets dragged to the capital city of Chang An just as the Zhenwu Society starts stirring up chaos, and somehow ends up recruited into the Duwu Division. From there it's faction politics, loyalty tests, and fight sequences grounded in that classic wuxia energy but with a fantasy edge that keeps things unpredictable. The Tang Dynasty setting isn't just window dressing either — the power struggles between court loyalists and rogue martial artists feel like they belong in that era, giving the whole thing a grounded weight even when abilities get wild. If you enjoyed the faction dynamics and historical atmosphere of Mo Dao Zu Shi or the martial arts world-building in Sword Dynasty, this ONA hits a similar frequency. It also shares some DNA with The Long Ballad in how it weaves personal growth into a politically volatile backdrop. The pacing leans into slow-burn setup early on, so give it a couple episodes to find its footing before the real stakes click into place.
