Dio finally tries to fully understand Aoba, but still there's a lack of depth in their dynamic since they haven't been able to establish an episode dedicated to them without Zogilia interfering like a jilted. Their bond is forced to be done during the battlefield so, again, it was flashy without substance. The Zogilian characters honesty has more subtle depth, probably because they have fewer less screen time so their dynamic shown to the audience needs to make it count.
