Did the author deliberately write Ema to be such a pushover? (-____-) My feelings toward her are so hot and cold. Whenever she's faced with her stepbrothers' advances, she just shrinks. But at the same time, I genuinely understand where she's coming from. I just wish the author had made her more of a fighter... or at least funnier. I think she'd be much more bearable that way.
