Brave Animated Series 2

Picture a world where humans pick "Braves" to fight demons and everyone just accepts that demons are the bad guys — now drop a rookie Brave into their first mission and — surprise — the demons aren't exactly the snarling monsters everyone said they were. That's the setup for Brave Animated Series 2, a 6-episode ONA that uses classic RPG fantasy tropes as a punching bag. Think of it as the fantasy genre roasting itself while also sneaking in some genuinely thoughtful stuff about prejudice, propaganda, and who gets to define "evil." The comedy hits because it knows exactly what conventions it's mocking — chosen heroes, demon kings, the whole good-versus-evil binary — and then just dismantles them one by one with a smirk. But underneath the jokes, there's a real thread about what happens when someone starts questioning the system they were raised in, and how uncomfortable that gets for everyone around them. If you enjoyed the satirical fantasy energy of Si Ge Yongzhe, this is in the same lane. And if you're into donghua that play with moral ambiguity like Mo Dao Zu Shi does, the thematic DNA is there, just wrapped in a much more comedic package. It's short enough to knock out in one sitting, and the tone walks that line between funny and surprisingly pointed without ever feeling preachy.
