Boogiepop and Others

Un episodio que da cierra a este anime de una forma que no me esperaba para nada, pero para bien. Creía que habría una gran batalla final física entre Boogiepop y el Rey de la Distorsión, pero en cambio nos dan una batalla psicológica y filosófica en la cual el peso de los traumas y el rol como pilar emocional que juega Kei importan. Me encanta que todo cobrara sentido en este arco y que nos diéramos cuenta de que el edificio funcionaba como el espejo de los traumas de los personajes y que Boogiepop acabara siendo una especie de "terapeuta". En general, el papel que juega aquí Boogiepop me gusta mucho más en este anime, en comparación al que juega en Boogiepop Phantom (2000). Aquí queda claro que es una especie de entidad que no tendrá piedad con los enemigos del mundo, los monstruos que buscan causar daño, pero al mismo tiempo tendrá misericordia e intentará ayudar como "terapeuta" de aquellos con una culpa terrible. El anime estuvo muy bien, tiene episodios excelentes aunque en general los arcos se demoran un poco en "cocinarse". Es mucho más fácil de ver y no tan confuso al basar su trama en arcos. Lo recomendaría a todo aquel que busque una historia de misterio sobrenatural con tono de inmersión psicológica y dilemas filosóficos.

Un primer episodio que nos introduce a boogiepop y el contexto de lo que pasa: la humanidad se encuentra en peligro. Como tal, el episodio parece ser autoconclusivo, pero funciona más bien como un rompecabezas que todo apunta a que tendrá sentido una vez vayan pasando los episodios. Por ello, puede parecer extraño, confuso y como que no lleva a ninguna parte. Creo que eso puede provocar rechazo a este anime, pero darle una oportunidad y seguir viéndolo me parece la opción correcta. Habrá que ver cómo se desarrollan los eventos hasta que todo cobre una explicación unitaria.

Not the conclusion I was expecting, but a sufficient one nonetheless. The last two conversations of the episode are the most important to take away from the story, in my opinion.

The fragmented way we learn about Nagi's life makes this story a total standout. And on top of that, I wasn't expecting the show to delve deeper into such minor characters. The writers don't leave a single stone unturned!

This episode introduces the antagonist of the arc and intertwines her plot with the protagonist's smoothly. Even then, it doesn't clear the high bar the anime has established thus far.

Absolutely killer episode. We finally get a glimpse into the origins of the protagonists through an adjacent short story. The fact that it's so simple makes it really effective. This one was one of my favorite episodes, and it might become one of yours too :}

A conclusion that ties up the arc in a satisfying way. On top of that, I really enjoyed Boogiepop's reflection on the events. Great arc!

Lots of action and plot progression, probably the most in this arc so far. If you're a fan of action scenes, you'll love it!

The development of Masaki's and Camille's relationship is absolutely top notch. Sweet yet heartbreaking nevertheless. You won't want to miss it!

I'm not good with the topic dealt with in this episode, it hits too close to home. Regardless, it's got excellent writing and makes great use of character exploration to build up for this arc's climax.

Kicks off sweet, but let's be honest with ourselves. This is Boogiepop we're watching. If anything, it enhances the horror that unfolds throughout the episode. So watch out!

This episode kicks off a new arc, and I gotta say, it already runs laps around the previous one with a less ambiguous presentation that allows for a deeper dive into the themes and story, especially with such an analytical protagonist. Looking forward to seeing the rest!

Boogiepop Phantom is one of my favorite anime, so I was excited, but hesitant to give Boogiepop And Others a shot. Luckily, I am happy to report that I loved And Others! Overall, I still prefer Phantom’s gritty surrealism, but I think And Others does a fantastic job at being different enough that it can stand on its own. If Boogiepop Phantom is a dream that makes you wake up in a cold sweat, Boogiepop and Others is a dream that has you walking around in a daze the whole day. Now I have no choice but to delve into the manga.

I feel like a lot of people might not enjoy how dialogue heavy this anime is at times, but personally I really enjoy the lengthy conversations. They bring up a lot of existential, introspective and moral ideas that I think about long after the episode is over. Only one episode left and I’m sad that it’s almost over!

Un episodio que prepara todo para el final de este anime, con un giro de los acontecimientos que no me esperaba. Me encantó el dialogo de Boogiepop con la chica, demostrando que no sólo es una entidad que se encarga de derrotar físicamente a los villanos, sino que también existe para salvar el corazón de las personas. También me gusta que se profundice en el rol que juega la organización Towa como el sistema statuoquo. Era de esperarse que en el típico tropo en donde existe un mundo de deseos, haya alguien que quiera quedarse ahí.

Un episodio similar al anterior en el que se desarrolla la psicología de algunos personajes, aceptándose. Me gustó que el antagonista relacionara esos deseos como "personalidades" divididas; estuvo interesante. Siempre es entretenido ver a Boogiepop entrar en acción, aunque esta vez parece que le haya costado más de lo normal.

Un episodio enfocado en la inmersión psicológico de varios personajes y a mostrarnos sus deseos e inseguridades, lo cual sirve como desarrollo y trasfondo. Me gusta el tono existencialista que mantiene este arco, me recuerda más a Boogiepop Phantom.

Un episodio de inicio de nuevo arco en el cual nos presentan al nuevo e interesante antagonista (quizás el que más complicaciones pueda presentar a Boogiepop). Me interesa mucho que presenten una temática enfocada a los deseos e inseguridades, y cómo estás dos conviven. Parece un arco que me gustará mucho.

I can’t help but wonder what memory and form The King of Distortion would use for me if I was trapped in the Moon Temple. It was cool to see Boogiepop in action. I specifically liked the dynamic between Boogiepop and the little boy.

I’m still loving the dream concept here. It’s a creative way to show the past without having to rely on too many regular flashbacks, which is a great change of pace for a story that already jumps around in time a lot. This episode gets a bit existential too.
