Wow, well, quite an enigmatic episode to start with. We have a teenager with a lot of emotional control issues, and they make that clear right from the first few minutes.

They also introduce a ton of characters, names, and the positions they hold at the academy; the anime doesn't skip any details on that.

The animation? Pretty dated, BUT the lore seems to make up for any kind of animation, though I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Hagino and Mari are going to have a history, that's the only thing I know for sure.
