The Battle for Doldrey does an incredible job of adapting some of the most iconic moments in dark fantasy history. The blend of CGI and traditional animation flows much better here than in the first movie, making the large-scale warfare feel genuinely grand and brutal.

The core of this movie is the changing dynamic of the central trio. Watching Casca grow to respect Guts, and watching Griffith begin to unravel as Guts seeks his own path, is masterfully done. The only reason it misses a perfect score is the structural pacing—compiling this much story into 90 minutes means certain character beats feel slightly abrupt. However, as a buildup to the eclipse, it’s an spectacular, heavy-hitting triumph.
