the Bebaus family dynamic gets introduced properly and it's one of the more interesting political subplots the show runs. the family's reputation for spectacular insanity isn't played as comedy — it's a genuine strategic concern that colors every interaction with their commanders. meanwhile Lafiel and Jinto discovering that their unit commander Atosuryua is the younger sibling of Baron Febdash — the man Lafiel killed in Crest of the Stars — is a genuinely tense reveal. Jinto's worry versus Lafiel's calm certainty that Atosuryua is beyond holding it against her is such a perfectly in character contrast. the dinner invitation at the end is ominous in the best way.
