Attack on Titan: No Regrets
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Long before the world would know him as humanity's strongest soldier, Levi was a thug scraping by in the Underground — a sunless slum beneath the capital where people are basically forgotten. This 2-episode OVA follows him, along with his two closest companions, Isabel Magnolia and Farlan Church, as they run small-time criminal jobs just to eat. Their lives take a sharp turn when a political figure named Nicholas Lobov offers them a deal: citizenship aboveground in exchange for assassinating Erwin Smith, a rising leader in the Survey Corps. Simple enough, right? Except nothing in the Attack on Titan universe is ever simple, and the mission pulls Levi into a world of Titans, military politics, and choices that reshape who he becomes. Wit Studio brought their A-game here — the 3D maneuver gear sequences are some of the best in the whole franchise, and the animation quality holds up against the main series easily. What makes this worth your time isn't just the action though. It's watching Levi go from someone fighting for survival to someone fighting for something bigger, and understanding why he carries the weight he does in the main story. If you're into morally grey setups like Black Lagoon or the societal tension of Psycho-Pass, this hits a similar nerve. Fans of Tokyo Ghoul's exploration of characters trapped by circumstance will find familiar ground too. Two episodes, tight pacing, and genuine emotional stakes — it earns that title.
