Notably, "Earth Defense Troops" is adapted from Osamu Tezuka's story "Number 7," with its settings re-imagined for the "Astro Boy" series. For this theatrical version, the entire episode of "Earth Defense Troops" and a portion of "The Last Day of Earth" have been reproduced in color.
