Synopsis
When a combat android crashes through the ceiling of a Taisho-era café, it is just the beginning of the complications. Shinichirou and his stepsister Kotomi are already struggling — their scientist father disappeared after getting obsessed with android research, leaving them to run the small café their late mother left behind. Then Arisa literally falls into their lives, a combat android who is very much not built for café work, and their already fragile routine gets completely upended. The Taisho setting — think early 1900s Japan, all traditional architecture and period clothing — is an unusual backdrop for mecha-adjacent material, and that contrast between the historical atmosphere and a futuristic android is genuinely the most interesting thing the show has going for it. The tone swings between slapstick comedy and mature content, so be aware this is a hentai OVA at just two episodes. If you went into Chobits or Mahoromatic expecting something innocent and were surprised by where they went, this is further in that direction and does not ease you into it. If you liked the android-companion setup of DearS but wanted something shorter and set in a historical period, the premise here scratches a similar itch. It is a niche watch — the Taisho mecha combination is rare enough that it stands out, even if the runtime is too short to develop much beyond the initial setup.
