The story unfolds in a world where specialized armed detectives, known as butei, are commonplace. Akari, a young woman, greatly admires the renowned S-ranked butei Kanzaki H. Aria and aspires to follow in her footsteps. However, when she takes the butei entrance exams, Akari is dismayed to discover she's only ranked as an E-rank. Undeterred, Akari seeks guidance from her idol, Aria. To Akari's surprise, Aria agrees to mentor her, offering pointers and training.
