Ano Danchi no Tsuma-tachi wa... The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
From the outside, a quiet suburban apartment complex looks completely normal — but behind closed doors, several housewives are dealing with husbands who have emotionally checked out of their marriages. Furukawa Yuko and Asahina Aya are two of those women, navigating that particular kind of loneliness that comes from sharing a home with someone who no longer seems to notice you're there. This 2-episode OVA from Ryuu M's, based on a web manga, doesn't spend much time pretending to be anything other than what it is — adult content built around marital dissatisfaction and the choices people make when they feel invisible in their own relationships. The character writing is a step above what you'd expect for the genre; there's actual setup and context before things escalate, which makes the characters feel like people rather than props. The animation is clean and the character designs are detailed. If you've watched something like Ingoku Danchi or Kansen: Inyoku no Rensa and appreciated when that kind of story at least tries to give its characters a reason to exist, this lands in similar territory. It's short, it's mature, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Go in knowing what it is and you'll get something with more substance than the average entry in the genre.
