Angels in the Court
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After the boys' squad folds, former national volleyball player Coach Akira ends up running the girls' team at Aota Academy. Awkward situation, sure, but things get way more complicated when transfer student Nanase joins up. She's genuinely talented on the court — the catch is that her skills only fully kick in when she's sexually aroused. That's the whole premise, and the two-episode OVA from 2000 leans into it completely without pretending otherwise. It's a hentai first, sports anime second, based on a visual novel and animated with character designs from Akio Watanabe, whose work you might recognize from other titles of the era. The setup has a goofy internal logic to it — there's actually a plot reason the team faces a crisis, and the show plays it with enough self-awareness that it doesn't take itself too seriously. If you've watched something like Stringendo: Angel-tachi no Private Lesson or Resort Boin and enjoyed how those blend a thin genre hook with adult content, this sits comfortably in that same space. It's not trying to be deep. It's a short, breezy watch that commits to its absurd sports-meets-hentai concept and wraps up cleanly in two episodes. Don't go in expecting volleyball strategy breakdowns — go in knowing exactly what kind of OVA this is, and it delivers on that without much fuss.
