📖 SYNOPSIS
"Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" presents a largely faithful adaptation of the classic tale. The film features character designs that lean towards a Western aesthetic, a departure from typical anime styles. The story, penned by Akira Miyazaki, known for his work on the WMT series, follows the familiar narrative, though it suffers from illogical plot jumps, particularly during Aladdin's pursuit of the princess. A perplexing addition is the kangaroo-rat, a token animal mascot that appears midway through the film and serves no discernible purpose. While the animation lacks the extravagance of earlier Toei films, the screenplay's faithfulness to the original story elevates the film above average. The music is composed by Yukihide Takekawa, who also worked on the Unico pilot film.
