📖 SYNOPSIS

Ai Tenchi Muyo!, created to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary and promote tourism in Takahashi, Okayama, is a 50-episode anime series featuring five-minute original episodes and ten recap episodes. The story loosely draws inspiration from the Japanese folktale of Momotarō and the tale of Kibitsuhiko no Mikoto. Due to Washu's experiments, two Juraian travelers arrive in Earth's past, crashing their ship near what will become Takahashi. Tenchi, armed with a special smartphone program, is sent back to retrieve them. He encounters Momo, one of the travelers, who falls from a tree onto him. The series follows Tenchi's attempts to reunite Momo with Beni, her guardian, and their spaceship. Along the way, they cross paths with Hachiko, Hana, Touri, a hostile Ryoko, and Mihoshi, who is investigating a demon attack. The early plot unfolds non-chronologically, interweaving flashbacks within the series' first two-thirds. Eventually, they find Beni and attempt to send them back to their time. This results in a new dimensional rift and the separation of several key characters, with Momo and Tenchi eventually finding themselves in the present-day at Junai Academy, an all-girls high school. With no memory of their past, Washu tasks Tenchi with finding them. This leads Tenchi into teaching at Junai Academy, where he interacts with the other characters in the familiar school setting and navigates several challenges, including school events and the mischievous Science Club who search for treasure while unaware of its true nature. The events of the school life, such as the cultural and sports festivals, provide the background setting for many events. Tenchi is constantly misunderstood by his peers but eventually gains affection and respect from most of them, while Ryoko undertakes a seemingly irrelevant investigation, Ayeka and Sasami support Tenchi, and Mihoshi secretly searches for Washu. The final act sees a Galaxy Police commander plotting to arrest Washu, resulting in a climactic confrontation that requires Washu's expertise to prevent a disaster. Ultimately, Momo and Beni return to their original time after facing several challenges and resolving personal struggles, although some memories of their experience remain obscured from the present timeline, leaving a sense of mystery and possibility for future developments.
