69: Itsuwari no Bishou
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A perfect smile is the foundation of Midori Aoi's entire identity. Perfect grades, modest personality, beloved by everyone around her — she's the girl who seems to have it all figured out. Except the smile is a mask, and she works exhaustingly hard to keep it in place. When an unexpected exam result knocks her off her pedestal, the careful image she's constructed starts to crack, and the people around her aren't exactly what they seemed either. Enter Akio, an ordinary student whose world gets upended when a girl named Rika shows up claiming she was sent to kill him. That's the kind of meet-cute that tends to complicate a school year. What unfolds is a 2-episode OVA from studio Nur that leans into psychological tension — the gap between how people present themselves and what they're actually hiding underneath. If you've seen Kite and appreciated how it blends dark atmosphere with emotionally complicated characters, there's a similar DNA here. Fans of Bible Black's layered character dynamics will also find familiar ground. The animation holds up well, particularly in scenes that need to carry emotional weight. It's a short watch, but it's more interested in the psychology of deception and trust than you might expect going in. Don't expect a slow burn romance — the premise sets up fast and doesn't waste its two episodes getting to the point.
