Synopsis
No one at his elementary school can touch Togashi in a footrace; he's the fastest kid there, and it's not even close. Every sports day, every gym class, every 100-meter dash, he wins without trying. Which sounds great until you realize there's nothing lonelier than a race with no competition. Then Komiya transfers in, a kid who genuinely loves running but can barely keep up because his form is a mess. Togashi starts coaching him, and what begins as a casual project turns into something deeper, a friendship built on shared laps and shaved seconds, and eventually, the kind of rivalry that pushes both of them to discover what speed actually means to them. This is a movie, so you're getting the full story in one sitting, and director Kenji Iwaisawa makes every minute count. The pacing feels personal and grounded, with Hiroaki Tsutsumi's soundtrack doing real heavy lifting during the emotional beats. It's less about flashy race sequences and more about the psychology of competing against someone you care about: what happens when the person you trained catches up to you, or passes you. If you liked the way Run with the Wind explored what running means beyond just winning, or how Haikyuu captures the tension of rivalry mixed with respect, this is in that lane. I've never been too much of a sports guy, but while 100 meters is about the 100 meter dash, what it really wants to examine is the ambition and sacrifices required to really be a top athlete. Each stage of the story makes each decision by the characters all the more heartbreaking as the movie progresses and really highlights the pros and cons of a single minded obsession.

A modern film masterpiece that dives deep into the philosophy of a seemingly simple sport. The very well written characters are brought to life by the use of great rotoscoping animation, which is definitely one of the highlights of the movie along with its compelling message.
Impressive movie! Personally, this is one of the best anime I've ever watched. I love how Uoto, as a writer, developed all the characters. I think all of the characters could be related to the audience.

Coming off Orb which took the world by storm, I am just impressed by the theatrical adaptation of the creator's oneshot. Not incredibly unique but my god is just oozing with passion and vigor. Best anime movie of 2026 (yes, better than CSM)
I only just finished this earlier this day. I just rated a Mid because I wanna know who really won the final race. It's just a huge cliffhanger for me but I know what does that real ending meant.
With a great animation also pacing, this story its not about Track Race but its about rivalry, whether we win or lose, We need to remember thats the fun of racing. Without it or not knowing it, your life will be empty, just have fun as long you know what you're doing.
